Growth Support Systems

New Employee Training System
Introductory Training This program provides the basic skills for new employees to deepen their understanding of our company, to be aware of themselves as a member of society and the Toyota Group, and to grow in the workplace after being assigned. This program will also lay the foundation for research professionals.
In-House Training
(On-the-Job Training)
This program provides the basics of business promotion skills, human skills and professional skills that are important in advancing research and work.
On-the-Job Training at Toyota Plants As a member of the Toyota Group, new employees will learn about the awareness and attitude toward quality and safety at manufacturing sites, as well as the importance of coordinating research and development.
Theme Proposal System
Frontier Theme Proposal System Pioneering themes proposed by researchers are selected for frontier theme research and given company-level support. Researchers whose proposal is accepted under this system become leaders of a team that engages exclusively in research for a maximum of approximately three years, giving them the opportunity to work on expanding advanced themes that will contribute to the future of the company. This system has already produced research themes that are representative of our organization.
Study-abroad System
Overseas Training Program This system aimed at younger employees provides support for researchers and engineers to experience leading-edge research in environments differing from that of the company, such as institutes or corporations in or outside Japan, and for administrators to learn organization operation concepts and acquired specialized knowledge. Toyota Central R&D Labs., Inc. provides assistance for living and program expenses during the stay.
Overseas Studying Program This system provides support for researchers to study at laboratories or universities outside Japan for purposes such as learning new technologies, building a world-class research network, and acquiring an academic degree. Financial supports covering living, research, and other expenses during the stay is provided to help cultivate globally-minded employees.
Domestic Studying Program Available to all employees, this program permits them, to an extent that does not interfere with their duties, to attend university and acquire a Doctorate degree through self-development.
Support for self-development
E-learning Courses This is a subscription-based (flat-rate, all-you-can-learn) e-learning course designed to support employees’ self-development. Employees can choose and learn business, IT, data utilization, English, financial accounting, communication, etc. by themselves at a certain cost.
TOEIC IP Test (Online) Online group exam system is available so that employees can take a group discount for the exam fee.
Lectures Opportunities to attend the lectures by front-line researchers and specialists in various fields from Japan and other countries are regularly provided. All employees are eligible to attend.
Management and Role-specific Training
EQ training This is a training for new executives and senior promoted employees to understand the state of their emotional abilities.This enables them to learn how to build trust with members and lead the team by managing their emotional state.
Mental Wellness Training This is training given to new managers. It teaches mental health knowledge, awareness, stress tolerance, stress coping and relaxation, and use them in workplace management.

This system aims to achieve efficient work and harmony between work and personal life through the allocation of working hours.

This system can be used as one of the flexible work styles to improve productivity and maximize results.

This system aims to help employees balance their work with child raising or caring for a family member.
Those who raise their child can shorten their working hours up to 2 hours a day until the child is 3 years old, and up to 1 hour a day until the child is in the third grade of elementary school.
Caregivers can shorten their working hours up to 2 hours a day for up to 3 years.

Employees are entitled to a 6-week period of leave prior to giving birth, an 8-week period of leave after giving birth, and may also take child-raising leave up until the child reaches the age of two. Employees are also entitled to a 3-day split period of special leave if their spouses give birth.

Employees may take an unpaid period of leave up to 1 year to care for a family member in need of nursing care.

Employees are entitled to five days special annual leave to care for a sick child or a family member in need of nursing care. If two or more people require such care, employees are entitled to ten days special annual leave.
